What is Shamanism?

Shamanism is an ancient form of spirituality that honours the earth as a living conscious being. This includes people, animals, plants, mountains, rivers, oceans, winds, stones, clouds, and stars.

Everything is considered to be alive and permeated by an eternal life force - a sacred consciousness of all that exists.

All aspects of a person are interwoven, each dimension influencing the rest. When one falls out of balance, the whole being feels the shift.

So it is with our planet and the cosmos—living systems composed of many parts, each one shaping the harmony of the whole.

Everything that exists is threaded together, bound by unseen currents that ripple through every stone, star, and heartbeat.

We move within a shared dream, a single tapestry of spirit and matter, endlessly unfolding.

Who we are

Homegrown is a shamanic wisdom school established in 2006 by Bastian McPhee. We are based in Berry, NSW, and respectfully acknowledge the Jerrinja, Wandi Wandian traditional owners. We pay our respect to these lands that provide for us.

Our purpose is to keep the sacred fire of ancestral knowledge burning bright in the modern world, helping us all remember how to live each day with harmony and reciprocity.

Shamanism invites us to reshape our lives, to prioritise balance:

within our own body, emotions, mind, and spirit.
within our families and communities.
within the lands and waters that give us life.
